Hello Friends & Singers,
Wherever you are, I hope you are well and singing with pleasure.
I teach some very good male singers. In a recent lesson with one of these men, I found that his voice really opened up in one particular exercise. A simple one. He did this easy 5-note descending scale while keeping in mind a strong upper body with a consistent smile. The smiling aspect is tough on many singers. They can feel foolish. But for some voices at the right time, the smile plus anchoring from the shoulders, back
and neck can give much more ease to the upper range. This short video takes you through the exercise.
Women can do it too. It helps to stabilize the speech range of the female voice.
I hope you find it useful. Singing is a very personal thing. But some exercises seem to work for many voices. I wish you all great singing!
My best,
Barbara
