Hello Friends & Singers,
I was thinking this week about two new private students who told me that they did not know how to practice. "How do you start?"
I'm not surprised it's unclear. I also can get flustered when I begin a practice session. In my case, since I study a lot, there are many new exercises and ideas that I want to try out. But when I calm down, I realize that it is best to have a few select exercises that get your voice well oiled up and ready to sing. These exercises may change over time. But there are some standards that just seem to work
well.
So I am going to create 3 videos. (Here is
number one. )
2. Working on head voice, mixed voice and speech (or chest voice)
3. Working on things that your unique voice needs (such as rapid notes, high notes, pianissimos, climaxes etc.)
Next week, I'll upload #2.
And then #3 - the following week.
I hope you find that #1 is useful to you!
As always, I wish you great singing!
Barbara
