THIS WEEK
When I was much younger, I wrote and performed in a few one-woman-shows. One of my directors was fierce and demanding. She brought out the best in singer/actors, but she made you work wickedly hard. One day, she stopped in mid-rehearsal and told me to go home and find my
"inner clown," or I would not be able to
do justice to the musical piece.Â
Basically, this involves loosening up. Finding that part of yourself that is free enough to be more childlike and daring - unafraid to express new feelings, and try new routes to good singing.Â
Â
In my case, this has become an ongoing process; I still work on staying open. I think most of us have the desire to
feel full of fun and carefree when we sing. So my challenge to you isÂ
laid out in this week's video. I hope you will give yourself permission to be your most fun self - and... Â
1. Find an upbeat song that you like.
2. Sing some or all of it on video (or audio) on your phone or using zoom or other...
3. Send the video to me here: innerclownchallenge@gmail.com
------------
With your permission, I will post these video/audio clips on my
singing tips web site. This a great way to keep your singing fresh and share your joy with others.
Dare to be your more open self! That feeling will permeate your entire life. Singing is that powerful!
