The Superstar Effect! Auditions &
a tricky thing called, Self Esteem

Imagine this! You are in an audition or a competition and the person who sings before you is an absolutely remarkable singer?

How do you feel?

Do you have the tendency to shrivel? To say to yourself, "Sheesh, why bother singing? Of course, s/he is going to win? What chance do I have?" (read about a unique way to NOT give up here.)

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

"What distinguishes a great artist from a weak one is first their sensibility and tenderness; second, their imagination, and third, their industry." - Salman Rushdie

BREATHY VOICE? - here's an exercise from voice expert, Richard Miller:

Put the consonant "K" before each vowel as you sing, EE, AY, AH, OH & OO. Sing all vowels on the same note with a breath between each. Begin in your easiest range:
Kee (breath), Kay (breath),
Kah(breath), Koh (breath), Koo...

Then move up and down your easy range singing these vowels (with the "K") while listening for greater clarity in your tone. The "K" consonant helps to maintain that clarity.

A famous singer's ideas about personal style...
"The empowerment of a woman wearing a man's garb on stage... " Watch here.
