But Today.....
I heard from several Newsletter readers who told me that they enjoyed reading about ways to be inspired, but that I had missed one crucial element of the story; "How had I changed? And what decisions did I make?" Thank you for asking. Here are 3 answers and some pics:
1. UNBLOCKING
While I have recently written some songs for a musical theatre piece, I have not written a song for myself in 2 years. As a long-time singer/songwriter, this has been a bit troubling. Somehow I lost the desire to write my own music. But I did not push it.
Over my many years in music, I have learned that these creative down
times do happen. You just hope that one day the motivation will rise again.
When I was traveling in Ecuador, I heard a wide variety of music. Not much of it was North American. The exotic sounds; the evocative
lyrics; the lush settings in which I heard these sounds...all of this began stir
up my creative juices. And now I am planning to write several specific songs, which gives me a
great sense of both relief and pleasure.

2. Web Site Pizazz! 
These travels have made
me even more aware of the power of music to bring people together; to
boost creative energy; to heal loneliness and to explore broader
creative possibilities.
So I made a strong commitment to myself (and now to YOU!) - to make this singing tips site
more exciting, relevant and FUN! - for the many singers who visit these
pages every day.

3. HELP! I CAN´T SPEAK!
I love the Spanish language. I live part time in Mexico. I would like to
sing more often in Spanish-speaking countries. But my grasp of the language is still only elementary.
On this trip to
Ecuador, I felt so frustrated with my lack of ability to speak with
people, that I promised myself to make this the year that I learn to speak
Spanish. (Another public commitment! Oh no...)
